Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative from Gaku Himalayan Adventure will greet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. You will have a briefing session about the upcoming Island Peak climbing adventure, followed by an evening welcome dinner.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Preparation
After breakfast, you will embark on a guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu, exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath Temple. In the afternoon, you will have free time to prepare for the trek and climb. Our team will assist you in arranging and checking the necessary climbing gear.
Day 3: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding
We take an early morning flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. After landing at Tenzing-Hillary Airport, we start our trek towards Phakding, a beautiful village situated alongside the Dudh Koshi River. The trek offers stunning views of the Himalayan landscape and introduces you to the Sherpa culture.
Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar
Today, we continue our trek along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges and passing through pine forests. We gradually ascend to Namche Bazaar, a vibrant Sherpa town and the main trading hub of the Khumbu region. En route, we get our first glimpse of Mount Everest.
Day 5: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar
To acclimatize to the altitude, we spend an extra day in Namche Bazaar. We can explore the town, visit the Sherpa Museum, and hike to Everest View Hotel for panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other surrounding peaks.
Day 6: Trek to Tengboche
Leaving Namche Bazaar, we trek towards Tengboche, a serene village famous for its ancient Tengboche Monastery. The trail offers stunning views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and other magnificent peaks. We reach Tengboche and visit the monastery, enjoying the spiritual ambiance and picturesque surroundings.
Day 7: Trek to Dingboche
Continuing our trek, we descend through rhododendron forests and cross the Imja Khola to reach Pangboche. From there, we hike up to Dingboche, a picturesque village nestled in the Imja Valley. The village provides breathtaking views of Ama Dablam and the surrounding Himalayan panorama.
Day 8: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche
Another acclimatization day is spent in Dingboche to ensure we are prepared for the higher altitudes. We can take a short hike to Nagarjun Hill or Chukkhung Valley, soaking in the incredible views and enjoying the tranquility of the Himalayan wilderness.
Day 9: Trek to Island Peak Base Camp
Today's trek takes us to Island Peak Base Camp, located at the foot of the magnificent Imja Tse (Island Peak). The trail gradually ascends, passing through rocky terrain and offering stunning views of Lhotse, Nuptse, and other neighboring peaks. At the base camp, we prepare ourselves for the upcoming climb.
Day 10: Island Peak Summit and Return to Chhukung
The most challenging day of our adventure! We wake up early and begin the ascent to Island Peak. The climb involves traversing steep slopes, negotiating crevasses, and using fixed ropes for safety. Finally, we reach the summit, where we are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and other peaks. After capturing the moment and celebrating our achievement, we descend to Chhukung for a well-deserved rest.
Day 11: Spare Summit Day and Return to Dingboche
In case of unfavorable weather or any unforeseen circumstances, we keep this day as a spare summit day. If we have already summited, we can use this day to relax or start descending towards Dingboche, retracing our steps through the beautiful landscape.
Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar
Leaving Dingboche behind, we retrace our path back to Namche Bazaar, enjoying the familiar terrain and relishing the memories of the Island Peak climb. We can explore the bustling market and interact with fellow trekkers and locals.
Day 13: Trek to Lukla
Our final trekking day! We descend through the Dudh Koshi Valley, crossing suspension bridges and passing through several Sherpa villages. The trail offers stunning views of the Everest region's rugged terrain. After reaching Lukla, we celebrate the successful completion of our trek with the trekking team.
Day 14: Fly to Kathmandu
We take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu, bidding farewell to the mountains. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you can rest and relax. In the evening, we will have a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful Island Peak climbing expedition.
Day 15: Leisure Day in Kathmandu
This day is kept free to explore Kathmandu on your own. You can go shopping for souvenirs, visit more cultural sites, or simply unwind at your hotel. Our team can assist you with any additional arrangements or activities you may wish to pursue.
Day 16: Departure
Sadly, it's time to say goodbye to Nepal. Our representative will assist you with your departure and transfer you to the international airport, ensuring a smooth departure process.
